Sandstone
formed back in 2003 when vocalist Sean McBay & guitarist Stevie
McLaughlin began writing and recording songs in Stevie's home studio.
Stevie's brother David and drummer Chris Toye soon joined the fledgling
band which meant the lads could start a steady gig schedule which continues
to this day. After a couple of changes on the Drum stool the band's
line up was settled when Paddy Flemming joined the band permanently.
The band's original live set was made up mostly of covers but as time went on and the writing team of Sean and Stevie started producing results the covers were phased out in favour of new original material. An EP entitled 'Life giving Sun' was released in 2003 which was followed in 2005 by a 12 track album called 'Tides of Opinion' (http://www.imarocker.com/reviews/Sandstone/SITE/TIDES.htm) which, along with winning a major Battle of the bands competition in London, brought the band to the attention of Copro/Casket Records who duly signed the band up and re-released 'Tides..' with new packaging. This has led to increased international exposure for the band and also a tour of England with labelmates 'Sinnocence' and 'Chokehold'.
The band continue to gig regularly and are currently working on their second full length CD.
