This Biography of CRAZYLEGS CRANE was sent in to me by the band's guitarist Pat Moore who's younger brother Dee will be better known to younger viewers as the Guitarist/Vocalist with Ekron Thamar & Triggerman.

This band were rated very highly by Stevo McCallister in his History Of Derry Rock. If you were in a Derry Rock/ Metal band then feel free to follow Pat's lead & send me in something similar with some photos if possible to kellz@freeuk.com.

Crazy Legs Crane History

Crazy Legs Crane were part of the late seventies / early eighties pub rock scene in Derry. A bunch of mates from the College they featured the twin guitars / vocals of Niall Deery and Paddy Moore, Andy Coyle on bass and Liam Bradley on drums / vocals, who later went on to bigger things nationally. Starting out backing their local heroes Pegasus and Toejam in the Rocking Chair the band were into blues rock, playing cover versions from bands like Led Zeppelin (Black Dog, Good Times, Bad Times), UFO (Mystery Train, Doctor Doctor) and AC/DC (Ride On, Problem Child). The band would always try to do different types of covers some of which worked - Queen's "Now I'm Here", Bad Company' s "Can't get enough", Thin Lizzy's "Johnny" (although a bit of competition from Demon on that one), ZZ TOP's "Party on the Patio" and some which didn't - Steve Miller's "Take the Money and Run" and Wishbone Ash's "Bad Weather Blues" but the band did a cracking version of Skynrd's "Freebird" with Moore playing the slide intro and fills and later joining Deery for the twin guitar solo on the outro. The bands usual venue was the brilliant Mason's, or gathering with some of Derry's finest (like at the Rollerdrome) - to play the odd rock night - usually with Demon headlining. Most of the band moved to Belfast in the early eighties and the band broke up. Liam Bradley went on to be recognised internationally as the dogs bollocks when it came to drumming and Paddy Moore showed his brother Dee a few runs on the guitar, inflicting Ekron Thamar and later Triggerman on Derry as a result
