Countervela formed in March 2005. After going through numerous bass players the current line-up was finally complete in june '05. The band consists of Ciaran Colton, Conor Mullan (Stand-Up Guy), Brian Collins (Pier 19) and Michael Ahern (Madra). To date Countervela have a few tours under their belt and made some interesting friends along the way. The debut CD 'Countervela' was recorded and is currently under the mixing & mastering stages in Derry's City Factory studios.
There are too many musical influences to note but most evident would be; Tool, Meshuggah, A Perfect Circle, NIN while some Jazz elements evident too.
The band realised that to reach the desired sound that they were looking for the search for a singer was to ensue. As auditions went on the band realised that it would take much longer than anticipated. Countervela have now decided to return to the gigging circuit with a slightly different musical approach until the new member is found. Watch this space!
