You's have knocked yer collective bags in for some time now and more than deserve to have some time back to yourselves!!

A message from Billy Campbell (Masons Bar)

No-one will be as sorry to see Sanitarium laid to rest more so than I,as it has been the longest running club nite at Masons since just before I took control in Nov 06 up till now. It has been a pleasure working with Cathal and more recently with Dee as well, and will not rule out an odd guest return as support djs for headlining acts. I fully understand Cathals reasons for bringing an end to this great event ,i know it will disappoint a lot of people,so good luck and thanks for everything you and Sanitarium has done for Masons .

I've only ever made it to a few sanitariums but to all it's a great rock and metal institution and it will be sad to see it go.

Cathal, many thanks for giving the rock community a wee haven for the past few years. Those nights in the Sanitarium will be fondly remembered by us all. Best wishes, Allison. x

Sorry to see the Sanitarium go, I went to some as the music wasn't always to my taste, but that was one of the good things about it - plenty of variety. High spot for me was undoubtedly the Pat McManus Sanitarium last year and look forward to catching him again at Masons on Friday.

Well done and thanks Cathal (even if you didn't play my requests!) - the boy done good.

Cathal - Thanks for Sanitarium - it gave us back a social life I thought we'd never see again. You made us feel so welcome from the first night we made it and provided a place were it was so easy to renew old frienships and make some great new ones. I hope everything goes well for you personally/professionally in Belfast.

Jesus, when I think of the Friday nights we spent in the Metro , not realising that Sanitarium was going on and just being glad we could get a babysitter, to watch a meat market in action!!!!!

Very sad news indeed that our beloved Sanny is coming to a close. I cannot praise Cathal and Dee enough for keeping this brilliant event up and running through thick and thin. I have had some of the best rock nights of my life up there and seen a lot of fantastic bands in the company of the best crowd of people one could ever hope to meet. It is heartening to read Billy's words confirming his stance on continuing to cater for the rock crowd in Masons. I would have been very surprised if he had decided the rock crowd was no longer needed in the bar as 'rockers = beer sales' and this age old equation is never likely to change. Anyhoo it is nice to hear it from the horse's mouth, as the saying goes. Here's looking forward to the last blast and going out with a major bang. ROCK ON.

Sorry to hear about the demise of the Sanitarium as I know it meant a lot.
It was a pleasure to play at the gig and you (and latterly Dee) deserve a warm thanks from all who attended/played there.

I will be very sad to see this too. Cathal that you very much, I have had some great times at the sanitarium. I'm sorry I haven't been able to get up as much recently, it was due to work commitments. If it'll make any difference I promise to keep my clothes on the next air guitar competition lol.

Ok, by now you'll know, this is the last ever Sanitarium. So, in an effort to made this as great a night as I can Ive asked my good mates MILLION $ RELOAD if they would care to be or last band. Being the sound guys they are, they agreed.
The plans for the night we have thus far are doors will open at 9.30 or 10pm
We'll start of with some tunes as usual. Im hoping I can arrange for an opening band who I hope will be able to take the stage at around 10.30. Followed by M$R around 11.15.
We will finish the night off with the Disco. Its gonna be a real party atmosphere and hopefully we'll have a bit of something for everyone. Im working on a few wee things that will add to the party atsmosphere and I plan to make a few wee presentations to thank a few people for their help.
Im gonna pull out all the stops on this one and end the Sanitarium with the big bang it deserves!

As previously announced- M$R shall headline the night, but Im delighted to announce, Ive had an offer and Im only to keen to accept FALON to open the proceeding on the faithful night. I shall be rounding off the night with the Rock Disco, and I will be in full party form.
I know times are tight and its not always easy to get out with other commitments, but spread the word and give this a send off it deserves. Its never too early to start taloking about it and make plans!
