ANDRE MATOS- SHAAMAN

Shaaman (‘The one that can see in the dark’) were formed in Sao Paolo, Brazil in 2000. Since then the band has released 2 albums, ‘Ritual’ in 2002 and ‘Reason’ which was released earlier this year. They have toured extensively throughout Europe & South America & have supported Iron Maiden in their homeland where they have topped several polls.

The Band's singer Andre Matos answers Sav's 10 Questions.

1. How are you, where are you?
Fine. Sitting at my home desk, in São Paulo, Brazil.

2. What’s currently happening in Andre's world?
(haha!)A lot of work regarding the release of Shaamans 2nd album, "Reason". Concerts every weekend and sometimes during the week, too. TV and radio shows, videoclip shootings and so on. Nearly no spare time for private life or hobbies at the moment. But with no complaints!

3. What has been the best concert by one of your peers you ever attended?
Iron Maiden, in 1985 at Rock in Rio, during the Powerslave tour. I was only 13 then.

4. What was the first song you ever wrote/performed?
The first song I wrote is still unreleased and probably untitled!! The first one I performed was a Kiss song, which I don't remember anymore.

5. Do you remember the first place/ time you stepped on stage to play?
Yes, the first real place was a theater in Sao Paulo. I shook like a tree, could barely face the audience. That was also in 1985.

6. What performer are you in awe of? Why?
Ian Gillan. Because of his spontaneity.

7. What would be the high point & low point of your career?
The high point is still about to come, I hope. And the lowest is probably gone already, I also hope.

8. What is you favorite city/town to have a show in & Why?
Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Recife, Brazil. The first one because they're the wildest audience. The second because there was always a special relation, with every band I ever played.

9. If you could do something else what would it be?
A Doctor (physician)or an Architet.

10. What color is the sky in your world?
Deep purple
